Dublin Bus SukhoyIt took exactly two weeks, and some encouragement from local Dubliners as well as folks from the home country.

Today, one Day 14 of my stay here in Emerald City, I played tourist. And finally chilled the f out.

After walking around the neighboring area for a little while and then having my first lackluster lunch, I hopped on the double-decker Dublin Bus, and went on a multi-hour tour of the city. The big, beautiful green bus first headed East, then South, then West, then North and then back East, again. It’s a nice system: hop on any of their designated stops, pay 17 quid, get off any of these stops, hop back on and the next day you get to do the same. As long as you have your ticket, for two days, you can keep playing tourist.

My strategy today was to stay on the bus and with a map and Sharpie in hand, mark all the places I’ll want to get off tomorrow.  And, of course, I had the camera with me.  Sitting on the top deck made for a fantastic view of the city and sky even though the weather went from sunny and high 40’s to cloudy, windy and low 40’s.  It didn’t really matter – there was so much for the eyes to enjoy.

A couple of places we drove past provided great flashbacks to when my Sis and I were first here in 2007. These I will certainly be visiting tomorrow, along with some new attractions. Not new to Dublin, but new to me.

I haven’t yet uploaded all the photos I took today – have to move things off of the computer to make room for all the new digital files, but until then, enjoy the two videos below. The first is a nice sight-seeing mini adventure, complete with mother-in-law jokes from our funny and entertaining tour guide (do not get on the pre-recorded tours) and a little history on the Guinness Brewery. The second video involves lots of singing. Don’t worry, I’m not one of the people lending a voice. Never a talent of mine.

So sit back and enjoy.  Now you get to be the tourist.

Cheers!
